Over the past few months there has been a lot of change brewing in the TakeNotice camp. Here's an update on what's been going on and what's to come.
Just before the holidays I had the opportunity to see a band I thought I would never see. After the assumed demise of New York's KayoDot (www.myspace.com/kayodot) and subsequent final shows with fill in performers, I though I would never have the chance to see this amazing band. Well, I was wrong. Now I was sooo incredibly excited to see KayoDot, but what I didn't see coming was a little Toronto based band called Siberia (www.myspace.com/siberiasiberiasiberia). Take my advice and make sure to go see Siberia the very next time you get the chance. Moody, eccentric, and a maelstrom of excitement with extreme swells of emotion, this band did not disappoint.
Here are the photos from the show:

Hamilton?...
Yes Hamilton. You heard right. TakeNotice and Statik Media are moving to the Steel City kids. This is a very exciting move for several reasons. As some of you may or may not know, Hamilton is the home to a historically grungy and grassroots punk and hardcore scene that is set apart from any other copycat, cookie cutter scene a lot of us are used to. With labels like Goodfellow Records (www.goodfellowrecords.com,) keeping a stronghold on hardcore punk and metal for years, you can expect a lot more from this city than what you would expect.
Speaking of Hamilton...
Our good buddies in Toronto's crushing "decoupage" punk collective Gorgeous Industries (www.gorgeousindustries.com) are bringing the ever-brutal and tight as ice AKROID (www.myspace.com/akroid) to Hamilton for a visit. If you live in Hamilton then you can come down to Absinthe this Friday for a show that is going to blow the ears off of your unborn children. If you live in Toronto then really it's only a $9 and 50 minute bus ride on go transit. Pretty much like taking a cab down queen street for about 6 blocks. Honestly, same deal. Either way, you've got to make it to break it. Do it....do it, do it!
Well, that's about it for now. Again, there are going to be some more consistent posts here in the future...promise. Also, keep an eye out for the new STATIK MEDIA site which should be up in a few days.
